Best Shorts Around
"My son is opinionated about fabrics and cuts allowing movement. These are the only shorts he’ll wear besides his jersey soccer shorts. Thanks Jungmaven!"
Crafted from hemp ripstop fabric that combines one of Nature’s strongest fibers with a tear-resistant weave, these shorts are both lightweight and durable. They feature a wide, flat drawstring waist that feels like freedom with just the right touch of structure. They’ll withstand outdoor adventures and soften with each wash, like good denim or a favorite paperback.
Women should typically size down, but fit is best determined by referencing the size chart. 'Men's Sizing' indicates sizing based on standard garment manufacturing terms, and is not meant to suggest gender identity.
The finished garment is washed in color, rather than dying the fabric prior to cutting and sewing. This results in subtle variations of color and a softer texture. Washed White is not garment-dyed.

Hemp is a naturally strong, durable fiber, which is why we use it to make clothing you'll wear for years. It's also a remarkable crop: in the right conditions, it grows with relatively little irrigation and fewer chemical inputs than cotton.
The facts:
Stronger fiber than cotton. In a peer-reviewed comparison, hemp fibers measured 310–850 MPa in tensile strength, compared with 287–597 MPa for cotton. [BioResources, NC State University]
Resists pilling and wear. In 2025 lab testing of woven bast-fiber fabrics, hemp earned the highest pilling-resistance rating of the fabrics tested, holding up across repeated wear cycles. [Fibres & Textiles in Eastern Europe, 2025]
Uses less water. Hemp uses about 38% less water than cotton over a growing season, and its water footprint is roughly 60% lower. [Journal of Agrometeorology, 2023; Journal of Cannabis Research, 2025]
Needs fewer pesticides than cotton. Cotton is one of the most pesticide-intensive US field crops, with 42 million pounds applied across 10.3 million acres in 2021. Hemp is typically grown with substantially less pesticide input. [USDA data via Organic Trade Association]
Captures carbon as it grows. Published estimates put hemp's CO₂ uptake at roughly 3–15 tonnes per hectare during cultivation. At the higher end, that outpaces the 2–6 tonnes per hectare per year typical of forests. [Portland State University review; University of Cambridge research]
Can help clean soil. Hemp roots can absorb low levels of heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, and zinc from soil. This process is called phytoremediation. [Portland State University review]
Facts refer to hemp fiber and cultivation. Many of our garments are hemp–organic cotton blends.

"Overall nice shorts but there are a few design elements I’d change personally. The slash pockets aren’t super convenient for getting things in and out. The elastic in the back is bulky. And the I ultimately had to exchange for a larger size despite following the waist size on the size chart. However— I decided they were worth keeping because I like the length, look, material, and comfort!"
"good shorts"
"For the full price it’s a bit hefty but I got them on sale and I really like them. I hemmed them a bit shorter and now they’re my go to summer shorts when I need something sturdy to sit on rocks n such"
"They're awesome shorts. Comfortable enough I drove cross country in them from Oregon to the Keys. Maybe size up if you have bigger legs!"
"I’ll be brief — I bought these shorts, put them on, and they ripped badly along the seam the very first time I wore them. I’m extremely disappointed, especially since it happened while I was at the airport. I’ll be sending them back to the manufacturer for a return or replacement."
"Deserves 10 stars"
"The fabric is thinner than I anticipated so unsure how sturdy. I got the small, 5’3”, and wear med in venice."
